The Museum where the relics found in the diggings of the ancient Roman city of Libarna are kept is located in the Palazzo Municipale of Serravalle Scrivia, Via Berthoud, 49, ground floor. The exhibit is open to visitors during office hours or through bookings. Free entrance.
The discovery of Libarna came about because of work connected with the building of the Strada Regia dei Giovi (1820-1823) and construction work on the Turin-Genoa railway (1845-1854). The actual archaeological area represents just one part of the ancient town, sited in a strategic position on one of the most important roads in Northern Italy (via Postumia). The remains of two buildings, the amphitheatre, on one side of the built-up area in a dominant position, are visible. Some finds are displayed at the Area Museale of Libarna at Serravalle Scrivia.
